Pest control

62% of homeowners weigh competitive pricing when they pick a pro (Jobber trends report, 2026). Rodent exclusion shows its true margin, so a sharp price still pays.

Roofing

Hours past 40 in a week must be paid at time and a half (U.S. Department of Labor). Weekend tear-offs cost overtime at 1.5x, so the roof margin you see is real.

Pressure washing

Quoting is a top time drain for 37% of pros (Jobber trends report, 2026). Past wash margins by job type show what to charge before you price the next lot.

Property maintenance

A unit turn billed at $1,200 with $700 in labor and parts, as an example, shows a 42% margin on the job the day it closes.

Window cleaning

Missing a washer’s hourly rate on a high-rise job? It shows not set instead of a false profit, so the margin you trust is real.

Tree care

Filter for removals under a 30% margin, as an example cutoff, and the power-line jobs that ran long show up before you quote the next.

Painting

Painters see the work order with item names only, never your costs or margin, so pricing stays with the owner.

Job Costing questions

Where do the labor costs come from?

From each tech’s timesheet hours times the cost rate you set. Helpers on the visit count too.

Can my techs see my margins?

No. Only the owner sees cost prices, cost rates and margin. Dispatchers see sell prices; techs see none.

Can I see profit while the job is running?

Yes. Margin updates as hours and parts are logged, so you see it mid-job and again once it’s paid.

What if a cost is missing?

The job is marked partial and tells you what’s missing, such as a tech’s rate. It never shows a misleading $0.

Which plan includes Job Costing?
